Released in four parts, like a podcast serial, McGhan's charming characters and intricately woven plot address class, culture, and love with a humorous touch. You won't regret journeying with the play's unlikely hero as he simply tries to do the right thing in the disparate economic climate of the 1890's Midwest.

Katy Crowley (MARLA IVES) is thrilled to be acting in a radio play. This is Katy’s first time in a play at DMACC, and her first play ever! She would like to thank her fun Acting I classmates and encouraging teachers for inspiring her to pursue acting.
Codey Gillespie (RUPERT IVES) is thrilled to be working on his first radio show. This is his third show he will be involved in at DMACC after starring onstage in The Matchmaker and as Sound Board Operator for Circle Mirror Transformation. He has done both onstage and backstage all 4 years of high school and has won multiple awards for both. Codey would like to thank his father's cat in getting him through tough times. Regardless if it acts like he never moved out.
Egla Birmingham Hassan (CELIA RHODES) is an accomplished director and professor of theatre whose 32-year career at Western Illinois University includes heading the MFA program in Directing and helping young theatre artists to find their own voice. Ms Hassan is now retired from teaching and is a freelance director who still looks for opportunities to tell stories that give audiences a look at our world, and sometimes, a mandate (or a suggestion) to make it better.
Darren Kim (NORMAN COOLEY) is very excited to be involved in this summer's radio play. This is Darren's DMACC production debut. He has however been involved in high school state large group and other acting activities.
Austin Klimpel (WILLY BEAU DILLY) is very excited to be in a radio play. This is his second production with DMACC following Guys and Dolls. Austin has been in many other plays, his favorite roles being King Triton in The Little Mermaid, Dreyfus in The Pink Panther Strikes Again, and Gloin in The Hobbit Musical. Austin has also participated in both large group and individual speech during high school, achieving the All-State level in several categories. He would like to thank his family, friends, and teachers for pushing him into acting and giving him a chance to flourish in the theatre community.
Audrey Krukow (NARRATOR) is excited to act in her first radio play. She worked the sound board for DMACC’s production of A Midnight Dreary last fall. In high school, she acted in 6 shows and designed makeup for 2 shows. She also participated in the Iowa High School Speech Association large group and individual contests. She lettered with distinction in drama her senior year of high school. Audrey would like to thank her parents, Travis and Amanda, and her two younger sisters, Lilly and Gabby, for supporting her.
Jessica Holland (STAGE MANAGER) is ecstatic to be working on her first DMACC play. Jessica will also be stage managing for the first time and is excited to be able to work behind the scenes. She has had a lot of previous experience on stage acting with Ghost Light Theatre Ensemble and Ankeny Community theatre. In her time outside of theatre she enjoys swim instructing and painting. Lori "Lo" Stone (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR) is thrilled to be working on Willy Beau Dilly. This is her second production with DMACC after playing Marty in Circle Mirror Transformation. She participated in numerous productions during her high school years and was an ensemble troupe member of Yours, Mime & Ours and The Rounding Shakespeare Company, all located in Denver, Colorado. She has most recently spent her time raising children and cannot control her excitement to be back in a theatre working with like-minded and talented people. She would like to thank her husband and best friend, Kenny, for always offering encouragement; and her seven beautiful children, TaPaJaCaRhyJuLil, who are her reason for breathing.
Jayme McGhan (PLAYWRIGHT) has written plays that have been produced and developed across the country at such theatres as Irish Repertory Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Washington Shakespeare Company, Stage Left Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Mortar Theatre, Cleveland Public Theatre, Hot City Theatre, New Light Theater Project, Yellow Tree Theatre, Cockroach Theatre, Nevada Conservatory Theatre, Saltbox Theatre Collective, Acacia Theatre, Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre, the Storefront of Indianapolis and many more. He is the author of twenty-two full length plays. He is a Resident Playwright Emeritus at Chicago Dramatists, a former Associate Artist at Stage Left, and a former company member of Cockroach Theatre in Las Vegas. He has also served as Regional Representative of the Dramatists Guild to the Twin Cities and a columnist for The Dramatist magazine. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from UNLV and a BA in Theatre from Southwest Minnesota State University. His newest play, Apollo 8, will receive its world premiere at A.D. Players in Houston in the Spring.
Rachel Trimble (PRODUCTION MANAGER, MENTOR TO STAGE MANAGEMENT & ASSISTANT DIRECTOR) graduated from Grand View University where she was involved in every production during her time as a student. Some of her more memorable Grand View credits include Alexander Who’s Not...Going to Move (Lighting Design), Clybourne Park (Lighting Design, Scenic Asst.), Miss Nelson Is Missing (Stage Management), Ghost Bike (Persephone, Ensemble), and ‘night Mother (Scenic Design) for which she received a National Honorable Mention at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Rachel works here at DMACC Ankeny Theatre as the Resident Designer, and her credits include Fuddy Meers (Scenic, Properties Design), The Wolves (Scenic, Costume, & Properties Design), Love’s Labor’s Lost (Costume, Properties Design), A Midnight Dreary (Director, Lighting Design), The Matchmaker (Scenic, Lighting Design), Circle Mirror Transformation (Costume, Lighting Design) and, most recently, Guys and Dolls (Scenic Design).
Krister Strandskov (TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, SOUND DESIGNER, & SOUND EDITOR) moved to Des Moines in 2013, and since then Krister has worked with Grand View University, Whippoorwill Theatre, Stage West, Goldfinch Theater Company, Iowa Stage Theater Company, and DMACC Ankeny Theatre in a variety of roles both on and off stage. Some of these productions include Our Country’s Good (Foley Artist, Musician), 7/11 Theatre Project Back to Nature (Master Carpenter), Make Believe (Actor, Carpenter, Photographer), The Christians (Choral Ensemble), Ghost Bike (Carpenter, Photographer), Fuddy Meers (Technical Director), The Wolves (Technical Director), A Midnight Dreary (Scenic Design, Sound Design, Technical Direction), The Matchmaker (Technical Director), and is fresh off of Circle Mirror Transformation (Scenic Design, Technical Direction) and Guys and Dolls (Technical Direction). Krister feels honored to have been part of the many productions at DMACC and is looking forward to the 2020-2021 season.
Carl Lindberg (DIRECTOR, PRODUCER, PROGRAM CHAIR) is excited to be working on his fourteenth production at DMACC. Prior to his arrival in the Des Moines metro area, Carl worked as an actor on major Chicago stages (Lookingglass, Remy Bumppo, Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Oak Park Festival Theatre, About Face, Windy City Players, and many more), on camera in a handful of commercials, short films, and an Onion video, and directed and designed productions in Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and California. Locally, Carl is represented by the Peak Agency and he is incredibly proud to serve as an Adjudicator for IHSMTA, an All State Critic for IHSSA, to represent Pyramid Theatre Company as a board member, and to have performed at Tallgrass (Stop Kiss). Carl has an MFA in Directing from Western Illinois University, a BA in Acting from CSU Stanislaus, and has trained with ensemble members from Steppenwolf, The Second City, and Shakespeare & Co. Love to J, M, & D.
Graphic Designs for the play were created by Katie Ryan and Smail Buljubasic. The DMACC Ankeny Theatre Logo was created by Lucas Thul. All three are alumnus of the DMACC Graphic Design program.

The aims of this national theater education program are to identify and promote quality in college-level theater production. To this end, each production entered is eligible for a response by a regional KCACTF representative, and selected students and faculty are invited to participate in KCACTF programs involving scholarships, internships, grants and awards for actors, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, designers, stage managers and critics at both the regional and national levels.
Productions entered on the Participating level are eligible for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival and may also be considered for national awards recognizing outstanding achievement in production, design, direction and performance.
Last year more than 1,500 productions were entered in the KCACTF involving more than 200,000 students nationwide. By entering this production, our theater department is sharing in the KCACTF goals to recognize, reward, and celebrate the exemplary work produced in college and university theaters across the nation.
