Spring 2026 Auditions

Auditions for:

Macbeth by William Shakespeare; Adapted by Carl Lindberg
AND
In collaboration with Iowa Stage Theatre Company, Educational Understudy roles for
The Seagull by Anton Chekhov

Auditions will be held in the Black Box Theatre in Building 5 on the Ankeny Campus.

  • Tuesday, January 13th, 7:30–9:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 15th, 6:30–9:30 p.m.

Callbacks, though unlikely, may be held on an as-needed basis, and will be scheduled for Friday, January 16th starting at 7:00 p.m. and scheduled via the email you provided in your Audition Form

First Rehearsal: Monday, January 26th; Rehearsals generally held Sundays 12:30–4:30 p.m., Mon-Thurs 7–10 p.m.
Tech Week: begins Sunday, March 1, 6–11 p.m.
Performances: March 6–8 & March 26–29.

The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, directed by Alex Wendel
Rehearsal Times for Iowa Stage's The Seagull are planned for Sun–Thurs 6–10 p.m. starting late January.
Tech rehearsals start Sunday, March 8, 5–10 p.m.
Performances: March 13–22
*those cast as educational understudies for this production will perform in ensemble roles while also learning the role they are understudy casted for*

Please know that having conflicts does not preclude you from being cast!
Note that casting priority will be given to DMACC students.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, January 13th from 7:30–9:30 p.m. & Thursday, January 15th from 6:30–9:30 p.m.

Sign up for a time-slot to audition with the form below. Then fill out the Audition Form using the button below. This has important questions about your availability, which we ask that you please thoroughly communicate.

If the audition sign up slots are full, you may come as a walk-up, but understand we will be giving priority to those with a slotted time. We will fit you in as time allows.

Sides

Please come prepared with a monologue from the selections attached below.
Memorization, though encouraged, is not required!

If you are interested in helping with the production offstage, we have several positions available!

Locations

For visual assistance with where Building 5 is and where to park, here is a link to the campus map, as well as the Building 5 Student Center.

The Black Box is located on the quad side (East side) of the building. If you enter by the Fountain on the East/Quad side of the building, the Black Box is around the corner to the left, following the tiled floor. If you enter by Trail Point Wellness Center, the Black Box is past Trail Point, past Café X, and across from Subway on the right hand side.
