Do you want to pick up a class over winter break? DMACC offers a select number of fully online classes in our accelerated Winterim Term. Winterim is the perfect opportunity for students at four-year universities looking to make up credits during the break, as well as current DMACC students seeking to accelerate their progress.
Winterim Overview
Winterim (Winter intersession) is a short, accelerated term offered by DMACC during winter break. Classes are fully online and run roughly 4 weeks, making Winterim a great option if you want to earn college credit in a shorter amount of time. Classes run December 22nd, 2026 through January 18th, 2027. Winterim semester is part of the larger spring term academically and for financial aid purposes.
What to Expect from Winterim Classes
Because Winterim courses move quickly, they require daily participation. You should plan to log in every day to complete coursework, take quizzes, and participate in graded discussion forums. Regular attendance is tracked by your instructor throughout the term, except on December 24 and 25.
Winterim classes cover the same material as a full-semester course, just in a much shorter timeframe - so staying organized and keeping up with assignments is essential.
Flexibility and Credits
All Winterim courses are offered online, allowing you to participate from anywhere. The credits you earn may count toward your DMACC degree or transfer to another college or university, depending on your program.
Visiting Student Information
If you’re currently enrolled at another college and plan to take a course at DMACC to transfer the credit back to your home institution, you’ll register as a Visiting Student. Visiting students are considered non-degree seeking and may enroll part-time or full-time, depending on course availability. Please note that visiting students are not eligible for financial aid.
If you have taken classes at DMACC in a previous semester, you’ll need to reapply for admission before registering for courses.
