Scholarship Program

An applicant must meet the following minimum qualifications to be eligible for a DMACC Foundation scholarship:

1. Earned a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma before the start of the upcoming fall term.
2. Be a current DMACC student.
   Incoming students who do not have a DMACC User Name or Password must first complete an application for admission to DMACC and be admitted to the College before applying for a DMACC Foundation scholarship.
3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
4. Enrolled at DMACC in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the fall and spring terms or enrolled in a minimum of 4 credit hours for summer term.

Please note: Students on financial aid suspension or attending DMACC as a guest student are not eligible for a DMACC Foundation Scholarship.

Eligibility criteria varies depending on the scholarship. Individual scholarship criteria can include a higher grade point average than the minimum required GPA of 2.0, be directed to an incoming student or a student in their second year at DMACC, or require a specific academic program, residence in a geographic area, community service, or co-curricular activities.

The DMACC Foundation offers two application cycles each academic year.

For the 2024-2025 academic year:

• Cycle 1: December 1, 2023 – March 1, 2024
• Cycle 2: May 1, 2024 – July 15, 2024

No, the DMACC Foundation Award Management System allows a DMACC student to fill out one general scholarship application and be automatically matched to scholarship opportunities for which the student qualifies. For some opportunities, the information provided in your student record and the answers to the questions on the general application will qualify you for additional scholarships.

Students are only eligible to receive one DMACC Foundation Scholarship per term.  If by chance you are awarded two, the larger of the two will be the one posted to your student account.

Yes, the General Application is the main application used to assess your eligibility for all DMACC Foundation scholarships.

You can review and edit your application at any point before the submission deadline. An application is considered complete upon submission and cannot be altered once it is submitted. When you submit your application, you will receive an email confirming that your application has been submitted from scholarships@dmacc.edu. The email will be sent to your DMACC student email address. You can also track the status of your scholarship application by accessing the DMACC Foundation Award Management System.

Your application will be reviewed when the application closes. Once the application closes, applicants will no longer be able to edit their answers or upload files. Applications will then be assigned to the scholarship review committees within the DMACC Foundation that are comprised of community volunteers, and DMACC faculty and staff. The review process could take up to 30 days or more depending on the number of applications received, after which scholarship recipients will be notified with an email sent to their DMACC student email address from scholarships@dmacc.edu.

Although it is highly recommended that you complete the FAFSA, is it not a requirement. Please keep in mind that some scholarships do require a student to demonstrate financial need, while other scholarships do not have this requirement. For scholarships that require a student to have demonstrated financial need, the DMACC Foundation uses the FAFSA to determine a student’s eligibility.

The length of the review process varies based on the number of applications submitted. Once the scholarship review committees have chosen recipients, the DMACC Foundation will send out an email to all award recipients. The scholarship notification email will include the name of the scholarship, the term when the scholarship will be awarded to the student, the amount of the scholarship, and any specific scholarship criteria that is required for the scholarship recipient to follow in order to retain the scholarship through the academic year. The scholarship notification email will be sent to the student's DMACC email address from scholarships@dmacc.edu. The estimated review period is 30 days.

The DMACC Foundation Scholarship Office communicates with scholarship recipients via the student's DMACC email account. You will receive an email notification via your DMACC email account. It is important that applicants check their DMACC email on a regular basis in order to receive important notices regarding their scholarship award and requirements throughout the academic year. You can also track the status of your scholarship application through the DMACC Foundation Award Management System.

A DMACC Foundation Scholarship can be used only for the term for which it is awarded.

Applicants selected to receive a scholarship will be notified via the student's DMACC email account. Scholarship recipients will receive an electronic scholarship offer through the DMACC Foundation Award Management System. The scholarship notification email will include the name of the scholarship, the term when the scholarship will be awarded to the student, the amount of the scholarship, and any specific scholarship criteria that is required for the scholarship recipient to follow in order to retain the scholarship through the academic year. The scholarship notification email will be sent from scholarships@dmacc.edu. Failure to accept the scholarship agreement and complete the post-acceptance scholarship requirements by the deadline will result in forfeiture of the scholarship offer.

Scholarships are applied to a student's DMACC account and may be used for tuition, fees and/or book charges at DMACC for the term in which the award is given, unless otherwise specified in the scholarship award. Please note: Actual award amounts will be adjusted not to exceed a recipient’s tuition and fees.

DMACC Foundation scholarships are made possible through the generosity of hundreds of donors. Students who receive scholarships from the DMACC Foundation are required to write a Thank You note to the donor who has made their scholarship possible. You will be required to write and submit your Thank You note prior to your scholarship award being disbursed to your DMACC student account. You will be asked to submit the Thank You note directly through the DMACC Foundation Award Management System. Failure to submit your Thank You note will result in forfeiture of your scholarship.

If you have not met the criteria for your scholarship because you have suffered undue hardship, you may submit an appeal to scholarships@dmacc.edu. In your email, please provide a personal statement explaining the hardship and how the hardship negatively impacted your ability to maintain the scholarship requirements. Your submission will be reviewed by the DMACC Foundation. Please remember that it is the student’s responsibility to pay all outstanding balances by the fee payment deadline while waiting for a decision. Regardless of the decision, the student is responsible for any late fees incurred and/or any scheduled payment plan drafts.

In order to apply for a DMACC Foundation Scholarship, you must be a DMACC student, meaning you have completed your admissions application and been accepted. Once you have been accepted, you will use your DMACC student ID and password to login to the DMACC Foundation Award Management System.

Select the Applicant Record tab on the left side of the screen. This tab contains data imported from the College’s student records and cannot be updated through the DMACC Foundation Award Management System. If you need to update your student record information, please login to MyDMACC using your DMACC student ID and password or contact the Registrar's office directly.

You must first be accepted to DMACC before attempting to login to the DMACC Foundation Award Management System. Upon acceptance, it takes a few business days for the system to update information.

The DMACC Foundation scholarship application consists of three short essay questions. If you need assistance with your essays, please contact one of the DMACC Academic Achievement Centers. The DMACC Academic Achievement Centers are located at each of the DMACC Campuses and available to you if you are:

1. A full-time and part-time student seeking assistance with college course work, especially in the areas of math, science, English, reading, and study skills.
2. An adult working toward high school completion (HiSET or high school equivalency diploma (HSED Option #2) or completing a program of basic literacy skills (ABE).
3. A student pursuing studies for academic upgrading, prerequisites or enrichment.
