"I am truly honored to be appointed to the FBLA Board of Directors, and I look forward to guiding FBLA in pursuit of its mission to prepare the business leaders of the future," said Hanson.
The mission of FBLA is to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. The concept of FBLA started in 1937 with the first high school chapter chartered in Johnson City, Tennessee in 1942. In 1958, the first chapter of Phi Beta Lambda (now FBLA Collegiate) was chartered at Iowa State University. The FBLA Middle Level division (now FBLA Middle School) started in 1994 for students in grades fifth through ninth.
FBLA, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C., is spearheaded by a Board of Directors who steer the organization toward a sustainable future, by aligning programs and resources with a strategic plan. The national Board of Directors is comprised of local teachers, state leaders, business and industry leaders, and the division National Presidents.
The FBLA Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization and is responsible for promoting FBLA’s objectives and operating within the policies and bylaws set by the Board. Board members are expected to:
- Provide strategic oversight and guidance.
- Advocate for FBLA’s mission and initiatives.
- Support fundraising efforts and organizational growth.
Hanson will serve a three-year term on the Board.
