A tobacco-free environment provides the following benefits to the DMACC community and the people we serve:
- Supports the State of Iowa's efforts to eliminate tobacco use in public settings.
- Supports healthy life-style choices.
- Eliminates second-hand smoke from around building entrances and air intake units.
- Eliminates litter.
- Prepares DMACC students to cope with future employment in tobacco-free environments.

- Reduces the risk of fire caused by smoking.
DMACC Policy and Guidelines
All DMACC employees, students, visitors and contractors are required to comply with this policy, which shall be enforced at all times. DMACC will follow the provisions outlined in Iowa's Smoke-Free Air Act (Iowa Code 142D) concerning enforcement requirements (Iowa Code 142D, Section 8, Enforcement).

How to Quit
Individuals begin using tobacco, and continue using tobacco, for any number of reasons: to relieve stress, to fit in with their friends, because they are bored, to be socially accepted.
Individuals may decide to quit using tobacco for any number of reasons: advice from doctor, family and friends, work place is tobacco free, expense.
But quitting is not always an easy thing to accomplish. Research shows that it may take an individual 6 to 10 attempts at quitting before they are successful. Some say this is similar to finding a diet that works. (Iowa Department of Public Health)
The Quit Line Iowa cessation and support programs can help an individual be successful in breaking their need for tobacco.

Simple Breathing
Focus your attention on this animation and breathe according to its rhythm: expanding
your lungs and breathing deeply as the drawing expands, then releasing the breath
and relaxing your chest as the drawing contracts. You may wish to pair the animation
with relaxing music or quiet nature sounds. If intrusive thoughts or worries distract you, gently guide your attention back
to the animation, using the Parking Lot if you need to in order to let the thoughts
pass.

Homemade Playdough Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 cup water
1.5 tablespoons liquid cooking oil (I used olive oil, since that’s all I had, but
anything will work!)
Food coloring
6–8 drops of essential oils of your choice (my favorite essential oils
Instructions
In a sauce pan, stir the flour, salt, and cream of tartar together.
Add in the water, cooking oil, and food coloring and mix until smooth.
Turn on the heat to medium-low, and stir until the mixture forms a ball.
Once the mixture has reached playdough-consistency, remove it from the heat and allow
it to cool for 3-4 minutes.
Knead in the essential oils of your choice.
Store in an air-tight container. (Storing it in the fridge will make it last even
longer!)
