Examples of training/activities at DMACC in the area of diversity are:
Workshop on diversity for all new faculty and adjunct faculty offered yearly. Sessions on learning styles that touch on various kinds of diversity of students are also offered.
Intercultural Communication and Diversity Training each year.
International Year events each year.
Diversity Across the Curriculum Discussions: The college purchased several copies of
Diversity Across the Curriculum
by Branche Mullennix and Cohn for faculty across the district to use as the basis of disciplinary and departmental discussions. The goals of these discussions were to make faculty and staff more aware of diversity in their classrooms and in the content of their courses, to develop new approaches for teaching course content with a perspective of diversity, and to promote an attitude in the DMACC community and an atmosphere on our campus that demonstrates a valuing of diversity.
