Summer Component
During the summer, students enroll in a college simulated, six-week residential program. Participants live in a residence hall on a college campus. During this six-week experience students receive instruction in basic academic classes such as:
- English (Composition and Literature)
- Mathematics (Algebra I &II, Geometry, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus)
- Science (Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
- Foreign Language
- Study skills
There are also opportunities to participate in character development, cultural enrichment workshops, career exploration (including summer jobs), and recreational activities.
UPWARD BOUND STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE WEEKLY STIPENDS FOR PARTICIPATION IN SUMMER PROGRAM ACTIVITIES.
Cultural and Educational Trips
At the end of the summer program, students go on a cultural and educational trip to different United States cities. In the past the program has taken students to:
- Orlando, Florida
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Chicago, Illinois
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- St. Louis, Missouri
- Omaha, Nebraska
- New York, New York
