Career Exploration Days
Hosted at a DMACC location, these events allow 9-12th grade students,
parents and educators to explore a career pathway by attending hands-on
activity sessions and demonstrations. They will learn about DMACC educational
programs and connect to future careers and professionals. Transportation is
the student’s responsibility.

Join us for Creative Arts Day at Mainframe Studios where over 200 artists are in residence representing a broad array of creative production from fashion, filmmaking, furniture, glass blowing, painting, photography, multimedia, sculpture, stained glass and much more. Mainframe Studios is a financially self-sustaining nonprofit providing affordable workspaces to advance equity and opportunities in the arts. Description: This event is for 9-12th grade students interested in exploring future educational and career opportunities in health care. There are many different types of careers in the healthcare industry, both patient and non-patient facing that make up an organization. From the nurse who helps care for patients, to the imaging staff, to the paramedics and EMTs who take care of patients pre-hospital and through transfers. You will explore all of the different opportunities in healthcare from a clinical side through conversations and activities with over 13 different departments through MercyOne, UnityPoint, and Broadlawns healthcare professionals. In addition, you’ll learn about educational opportunities in these fields from DMACC, Des Moines University, Grandview, and Mercy College.

Description: The Build My Future event, which showcases high-skill, high-wage, in-demand careers in Iowa’s skilled trades, allows students to explore and participate in hands-on activities in carpentry, electricity, welding, roofing, masonry, plumbing, advanced manufacturing, computer-aided design, architecture modeling, heavy equipment, and more. This immersive event puts students in the middle of the action so they can see the different career paths available in Iowa with varying levels of training and education required. Description: Explore Fareway Stores, Inc. a growing Midwest grocery company currently operating more than 130 grocery store locations with over 12,000 employees.
