DMACC President Rob Denson, Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer and representatives from the College and DMACC Foundation Board gathered on Wed., Feb. 7, 2024, to celebrate a $100,000 donation from Fareway in support of the new DMACC Transportation Institute that is currently under construction on 12 acres in north Des Moines. The new facility broke ground last November and will be completed in 2025.

With a Fareway tractor-trailer in the background, both Cramer and Denson highlighted the need for more qualified truck drivers. The current DMACC Transportation Institute, which opened in 1988, is aging and at full capacity. The new 8,600-square-foot DMACC facility will double the program's current capacity and result in a significant increase in enrollment.
