Early Alert Insights (Bobby Nalean, Mary McClure, Barb Badger)
Since March, students have had their world set upside down due to a variety of factors. Faculty used the early alert system over the summer to help students deal with some of these changes. The data from the early alert referrals have provided insights into what we might anticipate in the fall semester. Bobby, Mary, and Barb will share these insights and discuss services offered by DMACC to support students in these trying times.

The purpose of the session is to discuss ways advisors, faculty, tutors, and support staff can foster student success across the college. Topics of motivation, sense of belonging, mindset, and resilience will be defined and discussed in relation to our roles at DMACC, including a discussion of using DMACC resources (e.g., Early Alert, LASSI, authentic learning, etc.) that help us aim students toward success. Ensuring Student Engagement in the Virtual World (Amanda Rodenborn and Nicole Vogler)
Transitioning your face-to-face course to a virtual delivery system can seem overwhelming. How can you develop a rapport and interact with students who will never step foot into a physical classroom? Instead of trying to completely recreate the face-to-face classroom experience, consider how you can best take advantage of the virtual environment’s opportunities and features. In this session, Amanda and Nicole will share some practical tips for engaging your students in the virtual world.

Promoting Inclusion in your Classroom (Panel of Faculty)
A year ago, all full time employees were given the opportunity to explore implicit bias and asked to consider the impact our biases have. The importance of this training has been magnified by the focus on social justice over the last 5 months. This increased acuity in dealing with diversity in our classes requires that we intentionally promote inclusion. This session will give tangible examples of activities and strategies to create an equitable and inclusive environment in your classes.
