The theatre department, under the direction of Kay Mueller, produces one play fall semester and one play spring semester. Plays produced include farces, comedies, mysteries, and an occasional musical. Some past shows include Something's Afoot, Barefoot in the Park, Move Over Mrs. Markham, See How They Run, The Odd Couple (female vers​ion),and Steel Magnolias .

The intimate theatre space seats approximately 250 patrons. For the technically inclined, the sound system has a 1642-VL2 Pro 16-channel board and the light system has a computerized Strand MX board.

Auditions are open to all. No experience is required. Anyone wishing to participate whether on stage or back stage should contact Mueller at 515 433-5094 or kemueller@dmacc.edu. Students may earn 2 to 4 college credits for drama if they so desire.
