To make future teachers better prepared for academic and career opportunities, DMACC and Drake University have created a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Certificate for Elementary Education students who start at DMACC and then pursue their four-year degree at Drake University.
THIS CERTIFICATE IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN IOWA.
"We want Iowa teachers to have 21st century competencies in math and science so they can inspire and better engage their students," said Rob Denson, President of DMACC. "This is a practical, important application of the Governor's STEM initiative."
The elective program will be open to DMACC students who can then transfer to Drake University to complete their four-year degree and certificate requirement.
