Water Environmental Technology Scholarship

Members of several Iowa water and wastewater organizations formed an industry-wide ad hoc committee in 2012 with the purpose of establishing an on-going scholarship for students enrolled in the Water Environmental Technology program at DMACC.

Committee members included representatives from:

  • Iowa Water Environment Association (IAWEA)

  • Iowa Section of American Water Works Association (IAWWA)

  • Iowa Rural Water Association (IRWA)

  • Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities (IAMU)

  • Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR)

  • Iowa Association of Water Agencies (IAWA)

  • DMACC Business Resources (DBR)

The committee held a "Shrimp and Bingo" fundraising event in 2012 with over 80 people in attendance. The proceeds from the event established the DMACC Water Environmental Technology scholarship at the DMACC Foundation. The Committee’s work continues to this day and has awarded 152 Water Environmental Technology students with scholarships.

The Water Environmental Technology Scholarship provides up to $1,000 for students pursuing a degree, diploma, or certificate in Water Environmental Technology program at DMACC. The funds can only be used for tuition and books and is disbursed during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more).
