While three-quarters of the earth is made up of water, less than one percent is considered freshwater. Water and Wastewater Treatment operators have a tremendous responsibility in removing contaminants and impurities from water to make it safe for people, animals and the environment.
The Water Environmental Technology program is based at the Ankeny Campus. Some classes are held at water and wastewater facilities throughout central Iowa. As with other DMACC courses, credits from this program can be transferred to four-year universities.
DMACC also offers
Apprenticeship Certificates for current employees of Des Moines Water Works and Wastewater Reclamation Facility.
This program is supported by local water and wastewater associations, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and other organizations.
