The DMACC Surgical Technology Program has a minimum expectation to prepare entry level Surgical Technologists who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession. The program can be completed in five terms. It begins for new students once a year in the fall. Students are accepted on a “first come first served” basis and are assigned to a cohort of 24 students.
In addition to DMACC’s application process, students must:
Attend an information session within two years of program entry
Meet with the academic advisor assigned to this program
Pass a criminal background check
Adhere to the program's attendance policy
The Surgical Technology program is based at DMACC’s
Urban Campus. It is the lowest cost surgical tech program in Iowa, costing under $15,000 to complete.
