I am a product of the Community College system having graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, IA. I received my undergraduate degree in Marketing from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I have also completed my Ph.D. in Education from Iowa State University.

I have work experience in Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations Management, Project Management as well as Personnel Management. I am a firm believer in application-based learning and I draw on my own experiences as well as the experiences of others to assist in the comprehension of the textual material.

I absolutely love teaching and have always tried to live by some advice I received from a professor during my undergraduate studies: If you have a job that you love, you'll never "work" a day in your life.

I graduated Iowa State University in 2005 with a degree in Communication Studies and minor in Entrepreneurial Studies, focusing all my electives in business coursework. Since college, I've had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Manager with Pier 1 Imports, Defined Contributions Rep with ING, Placement Consultant/Recruiter for Westaff, Bookstore Manager at DMACC and Promise Jobs Employment Specialist with IowaWORKS.

My experiences have been mostly in the fields of retail management, human resources, employment and government. It was with my experience managing DMACC's bookstore that my eyes were opened to the idea of teaching at the community college level and I began to pursue my graduate degree in Business Administration while working full time. I attended Bellevue University and graduated with my MBA in 2013. I enjoy working with students. Teaching is something I am passionate about and my door is always open as I want to help every student succeed.
