Former President of Henry Ford College recognized for impact on students and community.
Dr. Stanley Jensen, Executive Vice President (EVP) of College Operations at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), received the Exemplary Leadership Award at the Chair Academy’s 27th Annual International Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Before coming to DMACC, Dr. Jensen served as President of Henry Ford College (HFC) in Dearborn, Michigan where he made a profound impact on the community and the HFC students. Inheriting a $16 million deficit upon his arrival, he led the College out of financial crisis and to a current $19 million fund balance through strong, compassionate leadership.
During a period that typically results in reduced morale and engagement, he created a system of shared leadership in which hundreds of employees who formerly did not have a voice, now participate in the governance of the institution. His vision for the future and his commitment to the belief in “Great Things Ahead” has positioned HFC to better serve the greater Detroit area into the future.
Dr. Jensen started at DMACC on January 2, 2018 and has since been working with DMACC President Rob Denson to launch Continuous Process Improvement initiatives to strengthen the College in four primary areas: Student Advising, Enrollment, Collection and Use of Data and Workforce initiatives.
The Chair Academy, based in Mesa, Arizona, is a global leadership and development organization dedicated to higher education.
