DMACC Hires New Urban Campus Associate Provost

Albert Farr Returns to Iowa

Dr. Albert Farr has been hired as the new Associate Provost at Des Moines Area Community College's (DMACC's) Urban Campus. Dr. Farr replaces former Associate Provost Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens who was named the Provost of the Urban Campus.

Dr. Farr returns to Iowa. After earning his Master's degree at Iowa State University, Farr was a faculty member at St. Petersburg College in St. Petersburg, FL from 2004 through 2012. He then became the Academic Chair in Communications at St. Petersburg College.

“All of us at the Urban Campus are pleased to have Dr. Albert Farr join our team," said DMACC Urban Campus Provost Dr. Anne Howsare Boyens. “His experience as an academic chair, faculty and administrator at St. Petersburg College have prepared him to be an excellent fit for DMACC and the Urban Campus."

“The DMACC Urban Campus is a vibrant, diverse environment where students from across the metro and world come together to learn," said DMACC Board of Director member Felix Gallagher. “Dr. Farr will be a strong addition to Urban's leadership team. I look forward to working with him in his leadership role at Urban."

Dr. Farr earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Iowa State University (ISU) in 2000, a Master's in English Literature from ISU in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Education from ISU in 2011.

He is married to his wife, Kristen. His hobbies and interests include automobile restoration, a denim collector and a music enthusiast.​​
