This is the first Chevrolet Volt, extended-range electric vehicle, sold by Karl Chevrolet here in Central Iowa.
President Denson will use the environmentally friendly car to highlight:
- DMACC's green career programs
- A growing number of green job opportunities
- The College's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and reduce energy costs
Several charging stations are being set up on the Ankeny Campus. The electric car will be charged partially from electricity generated by the Campus' Kilowatt-class wind turbine. GM says the Volt can achieve fuel economy up to 230 miles per gallon. The high-tech car operates on battery power and has an engine-generator back up.
