ISU STEM Transfer Workshop

September 24, 2021

11:30 AM - 12:50 PM
Campus: Boone
Location: BN01 223
Dear Students,

One thing I want to help you with is to create opportunities for you to learn about several different transfer options within STEM fields.  In my classrooms I FREQUENTLY have students who believe they desire to be Mechanical Engineers (ME)…but after they transfer to ISU they find ME to not be exactly what they thought it was going to be…for example, it’s more theoretical and less “hands on” than they thought it would be.  These students often flounder for a while and “float” around ISU until they discover another degree program that they find more suitable to their interests.  Because of this, I would like to introduce you to 5 exciting transfer options at ISU!

I am hosting a WORKSHOP on Friday September 24, 2021 between 11:30 am – 12:50 pm on the Boone Campus DMACC in Room 223!  Pizza lunch will be served!!  Join us for food, information, and advice!

You’ll be able to talk to the Program Chairs (or their representatives), hear “testimony” from a recent ME-convert from DMACC to ITEC (and someone with NO agricultural background), and have your questions answered.

5 Exciting programs at ISU that you need to be made aware of are:
ITEC = Industrial Technology
ABE = Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering
AE = Agricultural Engineering
BSE = Biological Systems Engineering
AST = Agricultural Systems Technology

The above list of transfer options are valuable transfer programs for all DMACC STEM students!  Each of these programs incorporates Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into their degree requirements.  PERFECT for YOU!  These are “BOOMING” areas!!

Again -- The date for this session is Friday September 24, 2021 from 11:30 am – 12:50 pm.

Please REGISTER to attend this workshop by clicking the link below or copying the link into your browser: https://forms.gle/Xenp4yTLgNfeTJZN6   We want to have enough pizza…and we’re excited to see YOU.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have ANY questions!
Yours,
Dr. Woods
