To join the Young Adult Program (YAP), you must be:
18-24 years old at the time of enrollment
Authorized to work in the United States
Income Eligible
Polk County, IA resident
Obtained your high school diploma, GED, or HiSED
Pass the provided background check
Complete the CASAS assessment. Email yap@dmacc.edto schedule. to schedule.
Reading (required score: 228 and above
Math (required score: 215 and above)
English Language Learner (if applicable, required score 211 and above)
For males only – Selective Service Verification letter at sss.gov/verify

The Young Adult Program will pay for the tuition, books, and required supplies for one approved DMACC certificate program.
The Young Adult Program students can receive free tuition for one of the following certificates:
Administrative Support Professional
Certified Nurse Aide
Patient Intake & Billing
Phlebotomy
Sterile Processing Supply Tech
Computer Numerical-Controlled Operator
MIG Welding
Core Construction/Basic Equipment Operator
Network Cable Installer
Commercial Vehicle Operator Training
As a Young Adult Program (YAP) student you will:
Become a part of a community that encourages growth and success.
Receive individualized guidance to help you succeed in the classroom and prepare for your career.
Receive FREE hands-on training that prepares you for the workforce that leads to an increase in wage earnings.
Receive career and/or educational transition assistance for one year after graduation.
