Multicultural Event at DMACC

Posted May 1, 2019

DMACC teamed up with the Des Moines Public Schools to host a Multicultural event April 20th, 2019. The purpose of the event was to increase awareness of post-secondary education to the different cultural communities in Des Moines. Seventy-five people attended this event and learned about the many educational opportunities at DMACC such as English Language Learners (ELL), High School Equivalency Diploma (HISED), Workforce Training Academy (WTA) and Transfer and Career Programs. Each of these programs can be the start to a rewarding career.

A panel of DMACC students shared how their DMACC experiences has lead them to rewarding careers. Local employers also shared the many ways a DMACC education can lead to employment within their organizations.

Public Allies, Reeva Neighbors and Rayna Gonzalez-Soto (pictured) provided information on tuition assistance and next steps to take; helping the audience realize that their dreams of a better education and career can begin at DMACC.
