Adding and Dropping Classes

Consult with an advisor or counselor prior to making course changes to your class schedule. There are many issues to consider when making schedule changes, especially when dropping courses.

Before dropping a course

  • Visit with your program advisor to discuss the possible consequences of dropping a course and to review all of your options.
  • Consider insurance issues affected by dropping below full-time status. Many insurance companies require students over the age of 18 to be enrolled as a full-time college student in order to stay on their parent's insurance plan. If you are covered under your parent's insurance plan, discuss these issues with your parent(s).
  • Consider a possible reduction of financial aid. If you are receiving financial aid, consult with a financial aid advisor to review the consequences of dropping a course.
  • Know the tuition refund deadlines, they are different from drop deadlines.
