Has any one heard anything about the Meraki wireless platform? I am hoping
to hear discussions on the not only the specs and technical side of how the platform works and how well it works... also I was hoping to hear some discussion about how it will effect us the ISP. A lot of places have been using this platform to create neighborhood or city wide free internet. (granted most of the municipalities have been a large contributor). If you were to google meraki and San Francisco you will understand what I am talking about. It not only is making me say "wow that is a cool out side the box idea" but it is also making me think " good lord my home town is only 300 people some one could throw up one of these networks in a week and put me out of a job". If any one has any thoughts or knowledge on the subject I would love to hear about it. It is honestly keeping me up at night.

I have only seen a few blogs about it.....You are right, an interesting idea. Maybe someone on the forum has more info. Thanks Patrick.
Anyone using a Mesh network could do this, not just Meraki, Tranzeo the makers of our wireless radios have a mesh network that they can build a town with in days. But who will pay for it?
Two things you need to look at are TRASPORT and CASH. They’re is no Municipal Utility in Irwin so where would the cash come from? Who would give the Internet to a company that would come in to Irwin? INS?? FMCTC?? I don’t think so. I think you can sleep again because I don’t think it would ever happen in a small town of 300 where there already is an Internet provider, cable provider and phone provider.

and.....with a purely private, customer managed, mesh network, who is going to take the trouble calls and service requests???
