Anyone using the new rel_5 software or running a "PIC" card in their Taqua switch?? The PIC (voip/packet interface card) appears to be a powerful product...any thoughts??

We are currently running the 5.0 software with pic cards. We also have what is now the Genband M6 voice app server. We are using this primarily now for voice mail and the conference bridge. We are looking at hosted PBX and voip capabilites as well. I am going to training on the M6 at the end of March so I hope to be able to tell you more about it and how it interfaces the T7000 then.

Do you see the future moving to hosted PBX or IP Centrex (I guess thats about the same I think)...What is your opinion of the future of traditional "legacy" systems like good ole' ComDial (Vertical) systems and Norstar systems. Will they fade fast??

I dont think so. We have systems installed for small companies that want something simple and user friendly. Being able to answer calls, transfer them and intercom is all they want and need. I see the hosted PBX being used more for companies that have multiple offices and thoose that have home workers or sales people out on the road.

Thanks Scott...good info. It is interesting as quick as technology changes, there are always 'legacy' systems doing the work behind the scenes! The 'old' technology doesn't get much credit when something new and 'advanced' comes out. Thanks for info.

Scott....just curious...Are you running any WSMF2WAY T1 trunks?? The T7000 has many T1 variants, but I am curious if you have any PSAP's or similar using the "Wink Start/E&M" trunking?? Thanks for info.

We are not using that protocol. I am not that familiar with it to know if it has any advanatges. Our PSAP trunk group uses FGC protocol and E&M signalling. We do not have a PSAP in our exchanges, we send all 911 calls out on Qwest trunks.
Thanks Scott...we have an older switch that only has MF trunking right now...It uses the MF, wink start, E&M, 2 way trunks. Thanks for the info. Do you run any T1's to direct customers? Like a PBX trunk (PRI ISDN T1 or similar)??
