Peer-tutoring Services is funded by the Student Activities Council (SAC) and the Work Study Program and coordinated by the AAC. It provides students with peer tutors at NO CHARGE to the students themselves. Peer tutors are paid to work with students who are having difficulty with study assignments or subject matter.

TO APPLY FOR A TUTOR:
To obtain a tutor, students need to fill out an application. The application will include a time schedule of hours the student can meet with an assigned Tutor. Applications can be obtained from Jan Diamond or Jon Robinson during the hours listed above. Students need to be aware that there may not be a tutor available in the content area they need. Also, the AAC Labs often are sufficient to support the success of most students in their coursework.

TO BECOME A TUTOR:
To become a tutor, students must fill out an application. The application will include a time schedule of hours the tutor can meet with the assigned student. Tutors must have obtained at least a B in the subject they intend to tutor, or they must have approval of the instructor who teaches the subject. Currently, tutors earn $7.50 per hour. Tutors must also fill out the usual tax forms as any regular employer would require. Applications can be obtained from Jan or Jon during the hours listed above.

AAC Instructor and Group Leader, Jon Robinson, coordinates the Peer-Tutoring Program together with Jan Diamond in the Testing Center. Jan helps students and tutors fill out applications and matches tutors with students who need academic help.
