DES MOINES URBAN’S 21st CENTURY GED GRADUATION CEREMONIES
On June 24, 2001, the Des Moines Urban Campus held
the Tenth Annual GED Graduation in the Campus’ Student Lounge. From May 15,
2000 to May 15, 2001, five hundred twenty-five people met GED requirements. We
were proud to extend our own Certificate of Recognition to seventy-seven
of those graduates who attended the ceremony.
More than three hundred
relatives, friends, and well-wishers attended the ceremony.

given by Des Moines Urban Campus Dean, Fred Gilbert.
It’s been a long time
coming, but one Graduate knows it’s worth the wait and effort.

On February 24, 2002,
Des Moines Urban held its Eleventh Annual GED Graduation Ceremony.
Because of changes in GED testing, a record 654 students obtained their GED,
and 178 of those attended the ceremony. This made it necessary for us to rent
the auditorium at North High school to accommodate more than 1,200 family
and friends of this graduating class.
Because there were many graduates, the hallways of

Families and friends
spilled out into North’s Main Entrance.

Although the crowd grew
large, the ceremony
Was conducted with no
mishaps.

The Des Moines Urban
Campus takes pride in sharing the success of graduates who put forth the
effort to obtain their GED Diploma. We hope to see this Annual Ceremony
progress and expand over time.
