Courses are held at the DMACC Success Center, 800 Porter Avenue in Des Moines.

Financial Assistance is available for those who qualify.

STEP is a program for GED/Adult Diploma students and graduates who want to explore careers and enroll in college courses but are unsure how to get started.

STEP courses at DMACC Success Center provide the foundation for college-level work. They're the first step to becoming a successful college student and successful college graduate.

WHO QUALIFIES FOR STEP?
GED/Adult Diploma students and graduates who satisfy minimum COMPASS and CASAS scores.

STEP AT DMACC'S SUCCESS CENTER
Here's how the STEP program helps you get started on the road to your future:

  • Credit courses designed to prepare you for college or completing your GED/Adult diploma.
  • A STEP Advisor will guide you and offer support to help you succeed.
  • Step students take their classes together as a cohort (group). You'll have the opportunity to develop friendships with other first-year students like yourself.
  • Small class sizes.
  • STEP courses are scheduled in the evenings.
  • Receive free textbooks during your first semester. (Cohort courses - 6 credits).

  1. Meet with a STEP advisor to see if the STEP program is right for you.
  2. A STEP advisor will help you explore careers, schedule your COMPASS assessment, and complete your admissions and financial aid applications.
  3. We'll help you select the right classes.
