Employment Outlook

Graduates of DMACC’s Welding programs work in a variety of industries that produce fabricated products, including agricultural equipment, structural metal products, motor vehicles and equipment, construction and construction equipment, transportation equipment, ship and boat building and repair, aircraft and airframes, and in machine job shops. Some of the tasks welders will do include:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and product specifications
  • Using electric arc or flame processing
  • Weld steel steel alloys and other metals
  • Operate robotic and automated welding equipment

Graduates earn starting salaries averaging $22,000-$24,000 per year.
