Paul earned his degree in Fruit Science and Enology. In addition to 2 enological research internships, he has worked at wineries in Colorado, New Zealand, Oklahoma, and Oregon. He is an ex-officio advisor of the Iowa Winegrowers Association where he serves as a co-director of the annual conference and chairs the Viticulture and Enology Scholarship Committee. In addition, he established the Mid-American Wine Competition, hosting internationally recognized wine judges, to help consumers recognize the exceptional wines being produced in the Midwest.

Randall received his B.S. degree in Agriculture: Plant Science from Dordt College and a M.S. degree in Horticulture from Michigan State University. During his education at MSU he researched about vineyard nitrogen fertilizer practices for Midwest vineyards and participated in many other viticulture projects geared towards optimizing vineyard management for areas with short growing seasons. He has given viticulture presentations in Chile, Iowa, Maryland, and Michigan. Randall’s research has been published in the Fruit Growers News and the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture. In addition to teaching duties at DMACC, he also provides technical assistance to grape growers throughout Iowa and is an Ex-Officio advisor to the Iowa Wine Growers Association.
