Format

The BCA122 Challenge Test has two parts: a written test and a computer applications test. The student must pass BOTH parts with 80 percent or better in order to pass the challenge test.

The first part of the challenge test is a 25-question test over Microsoft Office Word. All test questions are Multiple Choice. The second part of the BCA122 challenge test is a production test using Microsoft Office Word, a software application, on the computer. The student needs to demonstrate proficiency by actually using the software application that is taught in BCA122. A total of two hours will be allowed to complete the Challenge Test.

Preparation

Students with the necessary preparation to challenge test BCA122 include students who have experience with the software application Microsoft Office Word. The BCA122 course competencies ultimately reflect what the student is expected to know and perform. If students desire to brush up on their skills or terminology prior to taking the exam, it is suggested that the current textbook (Microsoft Office Word 2003, Illustrated – Introductory, by Duffy, Thomson/Course Technology) used for teaching BCA122 be purchased and examined. This textbook may be purchased at any of the campus bookstores of Des Moines Area Community College.
