Format

The ADM138 Challenge Test is completed on a computer using a program software that simulates a real-life data entry project. The data entry project will include both alphabetic and numeric data. The student is expected to perform the data entry tasks with proper keyboarding techniques.
The student shall demonstrate data entry competence by completing the following:

    • Keyboarding by touch alphanumeric data at a speed of at least 8000 keystrokes per hour.
    • Keyboarding by touch alphanumeric data with an accuracy ratio of at least 97 percent accuracy.

    Preparation

Students with the necessary ability to challenge test ADM138 include students who have an excellent touch method for alphanumeric keyboarding and numeric keypad skills. Students need to possess the ability to enter alphabetic and numeric data with speed and accuracy. Entering data effectively means keying data in an efficient manner and proofreading the data carefully to maintain a high degree of accuracy.

The ADM138 course competencies ultimately reflect what the student is expected to know and perform. If students desire to brush up on their skills, it is recommended that they practice from a keyboarding textbook that includes alphanumeric drills and numeric columns. Should students need a textbook, they can purchase the ADM138 Data Entry textbook at any of the campus bookstores of Des Moines Area Community College.
