Review for the NAB Exam
There is an NAB Study Review opportunity
for individuals preparing to take their exam
to become nursing home administrators. The CRN# for summer semester is 32822. The cost is $50. The
review material is on WEBCT and can be
accessed after you register for the course. This
is a non-credit course. If you have questions

Des Moines Area Community College's (DMACC) Health Care Administration programs have expanded to teach new skills in working with Iowa's aging population. DMACC's new track is now known as Aging Services Management. The goal is to provide knowledge and skills about the needs and services affecting older adults and their families.
If you like to work with older adults, DMACC's Aging Services Management has several programs that will be of interest to you. The courses are designed for the working adult student. You will study gerontology, governance of agencies and facilities, management, human resources, legal issues and accounting. You can select one of several tracks.
Adult
Services AS Degree track
After completing the Adult Services track, you may find employment in assisted
living programs, adult day care programs, residential care facilities, agencies
and associations that serve older adults. You may also transfer to a 4-year college
or university.
Long-Term
Care Administration AS degree track
Upon completing the Associate of Science (AS) degree, you may transfer to a 4-year
college or university to complete the bachelor degree. Upon completion of your
4-year degree, you will meet requirements of the Iowa Board of Licensure for
Nursing Home Administration and be eligible to take the NAB exam.
Adult
Services Specialist Certificate track
You do not need a prior degree. Upon completion,
you may find employment in assisted living programs,
adult day care programs, agencies that service the
older adults and residential care facilities. For
students interested in residential care facilities
work, it is recommended to also take a course in
general psychology and introduction to sociology.
Long-Term
Care Administration Specialist Certificate track
This track requires a prior degree. Upon completion of coursework, the you will
meet the requirements of the Iowa Board of Licensure for Nursing Home Administration
and be eligible to take the NAB exam.
Gerontology
Specialist Certificate
This certificate program is designed for professionals and paraprofessionals who work with the older
population. This includes but is not limited to
health care providers, firemen, police officers,
travel agencies, and the religious community.
