DMACC Veterinary Technology Biology Exam Info

You must apply to DMACC and be accepted - make sure to put down Veterinary Technology as your program of study when you submit your application (if there is a waiting list, they will accept students into the program based on the date of the application.)

You must complete a COMPASS test and Biology Exam. If you have ACT scores that are of an acceptable level (check on this), you do not need to take the COMPASS test. You must make an appointment to take the COMPASS and Biology exam. Call the Assessment Center at 964-6595 or 965-7143 to set up an appointment - you may take both at the same appointment.

For Biology Exam, you must score 30 out of 50 correct. You may retake the Biology Exam twice if you do not pass the test the first time. Click here for more info on Biology Exam study guides

If there are seats available, a student will be accepted into the program and will receive a letter of acceptance from DMACC. The letter will give you information your acceptance and notice that you will receive information on attending an Veterinary Tech specific orientation. Please note, there may be be a time lag between the time you receive your acceptance letter before you receive information about the orientation session. You must attend orientation before you can register for classes.

If there are no seats available in the program, you will receive a note that you have been placed on the waiting list. When a seat becomes available, you will be contacted to see if you are still interested in the program. The Vet Tech program starts each Fall, so if you are contacted during the year, it would be for attendance in the program that begins the next Fall semester.

If you're transferring from another school, you must have your transcripts sent to the Credentials office - contact them at 964-6507 for more information on how to send your transcripts to us.

For more information on the program, contact the instructors/counselors/advisors.
