DMACC Volleyball Players Named All-Americans

Two Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Volleyball players have received prestigious post-season honors.  Shelby DeNeice of Iowa City has been named to the All-American First Team while teammate Kayla Knobbe of Carroll has been named to the All-American Honorable Mention Team.

DeNeice, a first year player, and sophomore Kayla Knobbe earlier were named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Volleyball All-Region First Team and to the ICCAC First Team All-Conference Team.

DeNeice led the team in kills with 578, which is the third best single season total in DMACC history.  She was second on the team in digs with 570, which is the fifth best single season total for the Bears.  She had a kill efficiency of .280 and recorded 41 ace serves.  DeNeice is the daughter of Chris and Brent DeNeice of Iowa City.  She is enrolled in DMACC’s Arts & Sciences program.

Knobbe led the Bears in assists with 1,660, which easily broke the school single season record of 1,090.  Knobbe also had 344 digs, 113 blocks, 64 kills and 40 ace serves this season.  Knobbe, who is a Biology major, is the daughter of Kyl and Pam Knobbe of Carroll.

DeNeice and Knobbe led the Bears to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Volleyball Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona where they placed in eighth place.  The Bears, under DMACC Head Volleyball Coach Patty Harrison, finished the season with a 46-11 record.
