National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

DMACC Counselors will be participating in an area wide suicide prevention effort the week of Nov. 12th. Counselors will be offering a workshop, "The Truth About Suicide: Stories of Depression in College" on Wed., Nov. 14th at 12:15 p.m. and Thur., Nov. 15th at 11:15 a.m. in Bldg. # 5, Room 25A on the Ankeny Campus.
Counselors will also be hosting information tables to roll out the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The national hotline is staffed by professional counselors and available 24 hours a day. Calls are routed to the closest possible crisis center in the area. With over 120 crisis centers across the country, the mission is to provide immediate assistance to anyone seeking mental health services. Calls may be placed for yourself, or someone you care about. All calls are free and confidential.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students. If you or someone you know is depressed or thinking about suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
