DMACC Boone Campus Offers New Housing to Students
Nearby Apartments Provide Students with Complete College Experience
06/13/06

Students attending DMACC's Boone Campus this fall will have the option of living “on campus,” thanks to a new agreement where DMACC is sharing responsibilities of the Borgen Square Apartments, located across the street from the Boone Campus.

“This agreement allows us to offer a more complete college experience,” said Tom Lee, Provost of the Boone Campus. “It’s part of our ongoing efforts to be responsive and flexible to the needs of our students.“

DMACC will now utilize two buildings, with an option on the third. Each has 12 units with four bedrooms. Students will have their own bedroom, while sharing a common kitchen and living room. The cost will be $1,710 per semester which also includes a washer and dryer, high speed Internet service, cable and all utilities.

A DMACC college employee will live in each building and serve as manager/counselor to the students.

“This announcement is good for DMACC and the city of Boone because it will help us continue to grow enrollment and attract new people to Boone,” said Lee. Currently, the Boone campus has nearly 1200 students and also is home to all of DMACC’s athletic teams.

Lee said fifty students have already filled out housing applications. “We are hoping to fill the two building soon and possibly utilize the third building,” Lee states.

The agreement was recently approved and will go into effect on August 1, 2006. DMACC is currently accepting housing applications. For more information, click here.
