Bus Service to Ankeny and Urban Campuses
CHANGES TO THE DMACC ANKENY CAMPUS DART BUS STOPS
Effective October 26, 2009
In an effort to improve safety and comfort DART riders who take the bus to DMACC members of the DART and DMACC staffs have been working to make some changes to the designated bus stops on the Ankeny Campus.
EFFECTIVE October 26, 2009 there will be two stops located within the DMACC Ankeny Campus.
The DMACC Urban-Ankeny Shuttle Bus and the Ankeny-Des Moines Commuter will make the following stops inside the Ankeny Campus:
Southside of Campus Stop Location
Building 3W
The bus will no longer stop at the edge of Parking Lot L and Ankeny Blvd.
The bus will pull into Parking Lot L and stop at the entrance of Building 3W.
Students may wait inside of 3W or under the awning at the entrance of 3W.
When they see the bus enter Parking Lot L they should move to the sidewalk in front of Building 3W.
Northside of Campus Stop Location
Buildings 9 and 13
Buses traveling North through the Ankeny campus will stop at the pedestrian crosswalk at Building 9. Students may wait in the Building 9 entrance for the bus. Bus drivers have been informed that they are to wait a sufficient amount of time to determine if any riders are coming out of Building 9.
Students are responsible for making certain that they are aware of the posted pick-up and drop off times.
Buses traveling South through the Ankeny campus will stop at the pedestrian crosswalk at Building 13. A bus shelter is being erected at this stop.
All other stops within the DMACC campus are being eliminated due to safety factors.
In order to ensure that the DMACC shuttle gets back downtown to meet the other buses with the added time to maneuver through the parking lot, DART is adjusting the time it leaves DMACC by 1 minute. The new departure times will be at 11:16 and 12:16.
There are three ways to take the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to the DMACC Ankeny and Urban campuses.
Ankeny/Des
Moines Commuter
The Ankeny DART Commuter provides bus service between Ankeny
and downtown Des Moines. This route stops on the East edge
of the Ankeny Campus at Ankeny Blvd. at designated times. This

Ankeny/Des
Moines Commuter- DMACC Loop
Four times a day the Ankeny DART Commuter will
drive through the Ankeny Campus.
A
stop will be made on DMACC Blvd. at the pedestrian walk between
Buildings 9 and 13. This

Mid-Day
DMACC Ankeny-Urban Shuttle
Twice mid-day, the DART will run a special shuttle between
the DMACC Ankeny and Urban campuses. To make efficient use
of the buses, and to assist the public in using other DART routes,
the shuttle will leave the Urban campus, come through the Ankeny
campus, and then drive to the 6th & Walnut Metro Transfer site. This
route will only run Monday-Friday on student contact days. Location
of stops: Outbound to Ankeny - leaves from W6th & Laurel. Inbound
to Des Moines, Leaves from W7th & Laurel. DMACC Shuttle Schedule
West Campus Service
The West Des Moines DART On Call shuttle service provides curb-to-curb transportation within the West Des Moines On Call service area (see map). The shuttle can take passengers from any location within the service area to DMACC West Campus. Service is available seven days a week (no holiday service). Hours: Monday through Friday - 6:30 am to 7:00 pm; Saturday - 8:30 am to 6:00 pm; Sunday - 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. To schedule a ride, call DART On Call at 515-283-8100. Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH)
Have a personal emergency while at
school?
Guaranteed Ride Home is a form of
insurance for commuters who regularly use the DART.
To qualify for GRH you must:
- Be a monthly bus pass hold or participate in an DART vanpool.
- Ride an Express, Urbandale On Call, or one of the commuter routes.
- Have a personal emergency.
DART will provide a vehicle within
30 minutes.
