Become an entrepreneur as you learn the necessary business skills to be a successful business owner; designed for students entering grades 6, 7 or 8.
- Identify YOUR business opportunity
- Develop your business plan…who would want to purchase my product? And why? Who is selling the same thing? What do I charge?
- Receive start-up money to purchase inventory or supplies with a trip to a nearby supply store
- Learn concepts for negotiations and sales, “buy low and sell high”
- Present your business opportunity at a business plan competition and award ceremony
- Make SALES at the trade fair, you get to keep the profit!
Dates:
Monday–Friday: July 14 – 18, 2008 (Ankeny Campus) or
Monday–Friday: July 28 – August 1, 2008 (Urban Campus)
Times:
Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Thursday evening: Trade Fair & Award Ceremony
5–7 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon
Campers’ family and friends are invited to the Trade Fair and Award Ceremony, Thursday evening, 5–7 p.m.
Location: DMACC, Ankeny Campus, Bldg. 8; Urban Campus, Bldg. 3
Cost: The $149 tuition will cover all camp expenses, including business start up funding. [Registration Form]
Each student is asked to bring a sack lunch including beverage; morning and afternoon snacks will be provided.
