Job Description: Frontline BioEnergy is developing revolutionary technology and installing industrial systems in the renewable energy industry. We are looking for a mechanical designer to assist in the design, drafting, fabrication, and installation of industrial equipment to convert biomass (plant matter) into fuels and chemicals. Come join our growing team in the university city of Ames, Iowa.
Job Description:
•
Perform solid modeling of parts and equipment assemblies and use these to create detailed fabrication drawings of structures, piping and mechanisms in SolidWorks™ and contribute to the conceptual design and prototyping of equipment in support of senior designers.•
Create bills of material, parts lists, operating instructions, safety processes, etc.•
Identify appropriate suppliers and work with them to quote, fabricate, and inspect parts, and monitor fabrication progress against quoted schedules.•
Assist in assembly, fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and thermal devices.•
Perform other non-technical duties as assigned. Occasional travel required.Qualifications: Essential Qualifications:
•
Must have demonstrated 3-D modeling and CAD experience • Proficient in SolidWorks™ modeling, assembly, and drafting (at least 1000 hours).•
Understand and apply ANSI Y14.5M dimension and tolerance specifications.•
Demonstrated ability to produce efficient designs and accurate drawings for fabrication and assembly.•
Awareness of standard fabrication processes related to piping, sheet metal, machined parts, weldments, and gear and belt drive mechanisms.•
Ability to source and select appropriate parts and suggest necessary design modifications.•
Must be highly motivated, teachable, and committed to meeting our customers’ needs.Desired Qualifications:
•
Fluency in Microsoft Office™ applications.•
Work well in a team environment.•
Ability to multi-task; working with several engineers on multiple projects.•
Self-starter: initiative and drive to complete tasks; to anticipate and solve problems with little supervision.•
Experience in mechanical work as auto mechanic, machinist, welder, etc.•
Associate’s degree or equivalent.
Hours Per Week: 40
Wage Salary: Negotiable
