Welcome
to My Des Moines Area Community College Home Page
Tyrone N. Hunt

I have taught in the Academic Achievement
Center and Youth at Risk programs at the Urban campus for 7 years. Before coming to DMACC, I taught
for 6 years in the Des Moines school system
teaching social studies at Casady Alternative, Meredith Middle School
and Hoyt Middle School working with at-risk
students. I have been a member of the U.S. Army Reserves for over 29 years
which has provided me with the opportunity to travel overseas to other
countries, which I retired from in August 2004.
In the Academic
Achievement Center
I help prepare candidates to pass the General Educational Development (GED)
tests and instruct students in various subjects to acquire high school credits
for graduation. I also teach a course called Introduction to Education; a course that is required of students in
the Teacher Quality Program for
aspiring teachers.
I enjoy meeting people from diverse cultures; that it is why I
enjoy being here at Urban Campus. I am also the present advisor for the
African-American Student Alliance here at Urban Campus.
I enjoy reading,
jogging, most anything made of chocolate and my family.
