General Biology 2

BIO 113 - 4  credit hours (3 lecture, 2 laboratory)

   Second semester of biology for majors. Topics covered include the origin of life; surveys of general characteristics and life cycles of prokaryotes (bacteria and cyanobacteria), plants, fungi, and invertebrate and vertebrate animals; plant structure and growth; plant control systems; plant reproduction and development; animal structure and function; animal reproduction; animal development; general ecology; population and community ecology; ecosystem and conservation ecology.  Fulfills core requirements.

Prerequisites: H.S. biology and H.S. chemistry or equivalent.
