General Biology 1

 

 

BIO  112 - 4  credit hours (3 lecture, 2 laboratory)

    First semester of biology for majors. Topics covered include basic scientific and biological principles, evolution, chemistry of life, macromolecules, bioenergetics and metabolism, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and organelles, respiration and photosynthesis,  mitosis and meiosis, basic genetics, molecular biology, protein synthesis, and evolution of populations.  Fulfills core requirements.

Prerequisites: H.S. biology and H.S. chemistry or equivalent.
