Many people in China now own their own homes. Almost every home is in an apartment complex. China has about the same size of land as America, but more than 6 times the population. There is simply not enough space to build separate houses. The apartment complexes are built higher and higher. It used to be 2 to 3 stories. Now you will find many 10 to 20 story apartments. Only those higher than 7 stories are equipped with elevators. Imagine you live on the 6th floor and have to go out 4 times per day on average. Who needs to walk on a treadmill living there, not to say that the bus stop or farmer’s market is at least 200 yards away?

My sister’s family lives in a four-bed room apartment with 1200 square feet. I included the pictures showing the outside and the living room.
