Librarians
The Urban Library has four professional librarians available to help you with your research projects. Our librarians specialize in helping students locate appropriate resources, search the library databases, and use information ethically, such as appropriately citing sources and Works Cited/Reference lists. Each of our librarians is also available to provide research and/or citation orientations for classes that come to the library.
- Polly Mumma. Polly is the campus librarian. Her office is located next to the library classroom. Polly is generally available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- John Hutchinson. John is an Evening/Saturday librarian. He can usually be found at the teacher station/reference desk in the library classroom. John works Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and many Saturdays.
- Maryann Mori. Maryann is an Evening/Saturday librarian. She can usually be found at the teacher station/reference desk in the library classroom. Maryann works Thursday evenings and many Saturdays. In addition, Maryann teaches several sections of SDV 171, Library Instruction for us at various times throughout the semester.
- Rachel Sindelar. Rachel is an Evening/Saturday librarian. She can usually be found at the teacher station/reference desk in the library classroom. Rachel works Monday evenings and many Saturdays.
Library Staff
The Urban Library staff are available to help students with the general library needs, including checking materials in and out of the library. They also do much of the behind-the-scenes work in our library.
- Tamara McLaughlin. Tamara is our Library Specialist. her office is located across from the circulation desk. In addition to helping students with things like checking materials in and out, Tamara is responsible for much of our "behind the scenes" activities. She is generally available from noon to 9:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Friday afternoons.
- Margi Florence. Margi is a Library Assistant. Margie works Tuesday & Thursday mornings.
- Patty Guevara. Patty is a Library Assistant. Patty works Tuesday & Thursday evenings and many Saturdays.
- Susan Van Horn. Susan is a Library Assistant. Susan works Monday & Wednesday evenings and many Saturdays.
Urban Ambassadors
Urban Ambassadors are Urban Campus students who have been identified as student leaders, both academically and socially. The Urban Library is fortunate to have Ambassadors generally available Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While Ambassadors may assista with a variety of Library activities, their primary goal is to assist with basic questions in the library classroom. Ambassadors are able to assist students with such activities as activiting their OneCard, and logging in to Web Info System.
