Course Policies
Attendance	Attending class is essential for success in this course. Therefore, the student is expected to attend all class sessions. If you miss a lecture, it is your responsibility to obtain notes from a classmate. Missed laboratories can not be made up.
Grading criteria	Seven Exams (50 pts. Each) 350 pts (10% each) Laboratories 120 pts (24%) Disease Reports (10 pts Each) 40 pts (8%) Scale: A = 92% or above C = 70-77% A- = 90-91% D+ = 68-69% B+ = 88-89% D = 62-67% B = 82-87% D- = 60-61% B- = 80-81% F = below 60% C+ = 78-79% I expect you to keep track of your own grade. Calculation = (# points earned / # points possible) X 100%
Disease Reports	1. Students will submit four (4) reports for diseases of various body systems. A student may not repeat a system. Each report should include the following information: The name of the disease/condition The etiology (cause) of the disease/condition The incidence (how common in the population) of the disease/condition The symptoms and diagnosis of the disease/condition The prognosis for the disease/condition: What is the prospect of recovery from this disease/condition The treatment for this disease/condition Complete References NO PLAGIARISM: You must PARAPHRASE using your own words

Missed exams	There will be seven (7) exams. Material from lecture, lab, and the text may be included. Exams may include multiple choice, matching, diagrams, and short answer. Missed exams can only be made up with prior approval from the instructor. Missed exams must be made up outside of class within ten (10) days. Make-up exams may be of another format and are only allowed for emergencies.

Study expectations	Recipe for Success: 1) Read the chapters covering the lecture and lab material before coming to class. This will make it much easier to understand the lectures and labs. 2) Make the most of time in class (Actively participate in lecture and lab activities by taking good notes and pursuing answers to your questions). 3) As soon as possible after class, review your notes and re-read the chapter material. 4) Ask questions to fill-in any potential gaps in your notes (ask in class, during office hours, by email, etc.). 5) Review your notes often. Many students find flashcards useful.
Weather policy	“Individual circumstances such as health, childcare, rural roads, distance from the College, etc. can vary greatly among students and staff. It is always DMACC’s goal to provide safe learning conditions, as well as provide the opportunity for students to attend classes when the vast majority is able to safely attend. The final decision to come to College can only be made by the individual student based on their specific extenuating circumstances that may make it unsafe for them to travel. During adverse weather, DMACC faculty is considerate of students who are unable to attend classes due to unique extenuating circumstances. It is the responsibility of each faculty member to notify their students (in addition to their dean or provost) through some predetermined means if they are must postpone or cancel a specific class due to weather or illness.” Announcement of class cancellations will be made via email or phone.
