Course description

Offers the student basic concepts in human anatomical structure with relation to body functions. The course covers all major body systems with emphasis on structure. The accompanying lab will reinforce lecture with a cat dissection.

Attendance

Attending class is essential for success in this course.  Therefore, the student is expected to attend all class sessions.  If you miss a lecture, it is your responsibility to obtain notes from a classmate. 

Materials are posted on WebCT.

Missed laboratories can not be made up.

Grading criteria

Missed exams

There will be four (4) exams.   Material from lecture, lab, and the text may be included.  Exams may include multiple choice, matching, diagrams, and short answer.  Missed exams can only be made up with prior approval from the instructor.  Missed exams must be made up outside of class within ten (10) days.  Make-up exams may be of another format and are only allowed for emergencies.  Lab practical exams can not be made up.

Recipe for Success:

1) Read the chapters covering the lecture and lab material before coming to class.  This will make it much easier to understand the lectures and labs.

2) Make the most of time in class (Actively participate in lecture and lab activities by taking good notes and pursuing answers to your questions).

3) As soon as possible after class, review your notes and re-read the chapter material.

4) Ask questions to fill-in any potential gaps in your notes (ask in class, during office hours, by email, etc.). 

5) Review your notes often. Many students find flashcards useful.

Weather policy
