Background Information
Originally
from Glen Ellyn, Illinois,
I attended the University
of Iowa where I received
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.
I am currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Education from Drake
University. Mentoring students is one of
my passions, and my goal is help them become responsible, reliable, and caring
professionals. Additionally, I plan to
pursue the Advanced Dental Hygiene Practitioner status as the curriculum for
this program becomes available. I have
worked in private periodontal practices for the last 26 years, and also have
experience in pedodontics and general dentistry as a
clinical hygienist and as a dental assistant. I have been actively involved in
my professional organization since graduation, serving the Iowa Dental
Hygienists Association as Secretary, Presidents Council Facilitator, Peer
Review Committee member, ADHA alternate delegate, and as a member of all the
councils at one time or another.
Locally, I have served the Central Iowa Dental Hygienists for many years
as President, Secretary, and Continuing Education chairperson. I have been a clinical adjunct in the Dental
Hygiene Department at the Des Moines Area Community College since 1998 and
joined the faculty full-time in 2005.
