Background
Information
I started my career in respiratory
care (inhalation therapy back then) in 1973.
I graduated from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in June of that year. I began to work as an on-the-job trainee in
the inhalation therapy department of Freeport
Memorial Hospital that summer. In
the spring of 1974, I attended the Accelerated Respiratory Therapy Program at
the University of Chicago Hospital and Clinics School. I completed the National
Board for Respiratory Care credentialing process to become a Registered Respiratory
Therapist (RRT) in 1975. I worked at St. Marys Medical Center in Madison
Wisconsin prior to joining the faculty of the DMACC respiratory therapy program
in the summer of 1977.
I had the privilege of serving the
American Association for Respiratory Care as
President in 1997. I served as president
of the Iowa Society for Respiratory Care in 1986. I was Awarded Life Membership in the AARC in
2000 and in the ISRC in 2000. I am
currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Board for
Respiratory Care and the Iowa Board for Respiratory Therapy.
